Montgomery, AL (06/01/2023) –  On Thursday, June 22 at 12:00 pm CT, author Ann Bedsole will present a book talk on her new memoir Leave Your Footprint at the Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH). The program will be presented in-person in the ADAH’s Joseph M. Farley Alabama Power Auditorium. It will also livestream through the ADAH’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Admission is free.
 

In this presentation, Ann Bedsole will discuss a memoir of her life and career in politics. Bedsole was the first Republican woman elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, where she served from 1979 to 1983. She then became the first woman elected to the Alabama State Senate, serving until 1995. She will also discuss her role in the founding of the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science (ASMS) in Mobile County.


Following her political career, Bedsole maintained an active presence in philanthropic and business roles and served various roles supporting and promoting education. She was a trustee for Spring Hill College in Mobile and Huntingdon College in Montgomery and vice president and president of the ASMS Foundation board of directors.
