Julia A. (Evans) Graham

Julia A. Evans was born on August 2, 1842. She was the niece of Mary Gorree, the wife of Governor Andrew Barry Moore. At the age of 18 she married Chambers Graham. During the Civil War, Graham rose to the rank of First Lieutenant in the Marion Light Infantry (Co. G, 4th Alabama Infantry).

Julia died on November 1, 1870, and was buried in Marion. Following her death, Chambers had this portrait painted from a miniature which had been done when she was 17. He said he wanted to remember her as she looked when they were married.
