Cornelia Clark was born to Jane Emslie and William H. Clark of West Point, New York, in 1841. She met Samuel Lockett while he was attending West Point. They were married in the academy chapel on December 21, 1859. Cornelia accompanied her husband as his adventures carried him around the world. She and their five children even went with him to Egypt in the 1870s. Cornelia and her youngest daughter, Ettie, were with him when he died in Bogota, Colombia, in 1891. Cornelia died in 1912.
